The Baby Steps I Took Towards An Eco-Friendly Lifestyle

Recently, i have been thinking a lot about how i could change different parts of my routine and be more cautious of the environment. This is me jumping on the hype train – for a good cause of course and hope that it will continue long term and i could change further for the better!

There are definitely many ways that you can adapt eco-friendly habits into your daily lifestyle. One of my first steps towards an eco change was to eliminate my use of styrofoam cups. If i have one teh tarik every day, that means i used 20 cups per month and that would be a whopping 240 (!!) styrofoam cups every year! And that its just me alone. So i hopped on Carousell and got myself a Stojo cup dupe for only $10! It is essentially a collapsible cup that can fill up a normal 350ml styrofoam cup, easy to wash and collapse after using, so that it will not take up a lot of space. It was perfect for me to keep in the office. Easy peasy!

Here’s where i got my Stojo dupe – carousell link.

Styrofoam cups, check. So, i decided to take another step – plastic cutlery. I got mine at CK and i personally think it is amazing! The one i had below comes in four sets – spoon, fork, knife and a pair of chopsticks. All in one cute small container! It is also pretty handy when i go travelling as well, when I am unsure whether the environment is entirely clean.

Beauty-wise, i tried to minimise the use of cotton pads and wipes when i remove my make up at the end of the day by switching to cleansing butters. I am currently on my first tub of The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter and it is amaaaaaazing. It is totally effective in cleaning off all my make up and massaging my face upwards definitely help in firming my skin. Another cheaper and equally effective cleaning option that i would recommend would be Banila’s Clean It Zero – i have been using this for years before i made the switch!

With all these changes that i have made to my daily routine, my personal take on this is that it requires a bit more effort. I have to remember washing them properly after every use so that they would not eventually stink. Also, forgetting them could happen from time to time, and it is totally ok, so don’t be hard on yourself!
